大象juǎn在写作中，对人物情感的描写常常能使人物的形象显得生动鲜活。人的情感可以分很多种，如喜悦、满意、失望、悲伤、憎恨、愤怒、惊讶、恐惧、赞赏等等。在英语中有很多不同的词和句式来表达这些不同的情感。
一、情绪描写之喜乐
喜乐的情绪通常和动作“笑”结合，这样写出来的句式更灵动活泼。常见的表达方式有：smile brightly; laugh; beam; light (sth) up; light up with; burst into laughter; burst out laughing；wear a bright/broad smile; give sb a smile。
学一学：
beam: smile very happily
light up: if someone’s face or eyes light up, they show pleasure, excitement etc.
light up with：His eyes lit up with laughter. Her face lit up with pleasure.
light sth up: to make someone’s face or eyes show pleasure or excitement.
Suddenly a bright smile lit up her face/eyes.
例如：他的父母满意地笑了。
译法一：His parents beamed/smiled with satisfaction.
译法二：His parents wore a satisfied smile on his face.

1.看到直升飞机，Jane 高兴地笑了起来。
【答案一】 At the sight of the helicopter, Jane beamed with wild joy.

二、情绪描写之激动
动词：whistle（吹口哨）/dance/ jump/leap with joy; feel a surge（激增）of happiness/delight/joy/excitement; (one’s eyes) twinkle（闪闪发光）; (one’s heart) beat/pound wildly（心跳加速）; can hardly conceal one’s excited(几乎无法掩饰兴奋的心情)
形容词： delighted; overjoyed; excited; thrilled; be wild with joy（欣喜若狂）
句子：A wild gaiety（快乐）took hold of her. 一种疯狂的快乐控制了她。
I was pleased beyond description. 我高兴得难以形容。
Her flushed face was shining with excitement.(flush v.发红） 她激动得满脸通红。

三、情绪描写之生气
feel/get angry/furious;seized by anger; feel a surge of anger(rage/fury); eyes blaze; storm out of/into/off （气冲冲地…）; storm(怒吼);
句子：
① I was seized by anger. 我被愤怒覆盖。
② He was fuming with rage. 他大发雷霆。
③ His anger boiled over. 他的愤怒情绪突然爆发起来了。
④ He could hardly/scarcely contain his rage. 他几乎控制不住自己的愤怒。
⑤ He was breathing fire and fury. 他怒火冲天。

五、情绪描写之恐惧

2)紧张
① Her face turned pal,feeling like sitting on pins and needles. 她的脸刷白，感觉如坐针毡。
② His palms were sweaty and knees were soft. 他手心出汗，膝盖发软。
3)尴尬/羞愧
① He was embarrassed/ashamed.
② His face flushed(通红)/burned(燃烧)with embarrassment/shame.他因尴尬而满脸通红。他窘得脸都红了。
③ He hung/dropped/lowered his head in shame.他羞愧地低下了头。
④ She felt so ashamed that she could feel her face burning. 她感到羞愧难当，脸上滚烫。
⑤ So ashamed was she that she could feel the blood rush to her face. 她感到羞愧极了，血液涌上脸颊。
4)绝望
① He felt hopeless/desperate.
② Upon hearing the bad new, she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness and sank into hopelessness.听到这个坏消息，他突然被投入黑暗世界，陷入绝望。
③ His beliefs in looking forward and seeing the positive in everything deserted him. 他那种向前看、看到一切事物积极一面的信念抛弃了他。
5)感谢
① I ran over to my father, reached out my hands and hugged/embraced him tightly/firmly.
我跑向父亲，伸出手，紧紧抱住他。
② With grateful tears hanging in his eye, she kept extending(表达)his gratitude(感激)，“Thank you so much!”
他眼中满是感激的泪水，不停地说:“非常感谢!”
6)鼓励
① Taking a deep breath, I managed to calm myself down and walked up to the platform confidently.
深吸一口气，我成功地让自己镇定，然后自信地走上了讲台。
② I walked over to him,and patted him on the shoulder encouraging: “Come on!”
我走向他，拍拍他的肩膀，鼓励道:“加油!”
7)震惊
① He was surprised/shocked.
② His eyes grew wide/widened with surprise/astonishment(震惊)when he heard the news.
听到这个消息后，他惊讶地睁大了眼睛。
③ It’s hard to believe.He didn’t accept the job that he was long for.

8)疑惑/迷茫
① He felt confused.
